On the final day of the 2010 Nutilite Canadian soccer championships, the Rogers Newfoundland and Labrador U16 girls team tied 0-0 with Saskatchewan to finish 2nd in their division, 7th overall. The team showed outstanding defence, conceding just two goals, both in the first match.
Stacey Hanlon’s goal earned the U14 girls a 1-1 tie with NB; the team finished with two ties and two losses in their division, for 10th place overall.
The 14 boys finished off with a 4-0 loss to PEI, finishing 10th overall. The 16 boys finished 8th, drawing 0-0 with Sakatchewan in their final match. Michael Scott and Lucas Power shared the shutout.

Newfoundland and Labrador teams took to the field again on the second day of the Nutrlite All-Stars U14/16 Championships. The Under 16 girls recorded the first win for Rogers Provincial teams at the tournaments with a 4-0 victory over PEI. Kyle Fowler scored for the U14 boys in a narrow 2-1 loss to Saskatchewan. The U16 boys lost 2-0 to Nova Scotia. The U14 girls lost 4-0 to Manitoba at King George V.

After the first day of competition, the teams are now heading for round-robin competition based on the results of day 1 games. In the Under-14 category British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Alberta and Ontario have qualified for medal competition and first to fifth. New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador are out of the medal competition and play for placings from sixth to tenth
In the Under-16 category Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta have qualified for medal competition and first to fifth. New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Rogers Newfoundland and Labrador and Saskatchewan are out of the medal competition and play for placings from sixth to tenth

The Under 14 and 16 BMO/Nutrilite Allstar nationals are being held in Sherbrooke, QC (Boys) and St. John’s/Mt Pearl, NL (Girls) July 20th to 25th. The U14 boys lost 6-0 to Quebec in their opening match and will play in the placing group (6-10th placement). the 16 Boys lost 1-0 to Alberta and also move to the placings division.

The Newfoundland and Labrador under 13 girls claimed bronze at the 2010 Atlantic Under-13 soccer championships in Corner Brook. The boys squad finished 4th. Nova Scotia claimed gold medals in both boys and girls.

The four Rogers provincial all-star teams that will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Nutrilite Canadian girls and boys youth soccer championships have been named.
The girls youth soccer championships is being held in St. John’s and Mount Pearl July 20 to July 25.

Host Newfoundland and Labrador have tough opponents to open their competition in the two national female youth soccer championships that run from Tuesday, July 20 to Sunday July 25 in St. John’s and Mount Pearl. Host chair Bob Antle disclosed details of the schedule for the pair of Canadian provincial all-star championships.
“Rankings for the championships are based on last year’s showing,” Antle explained. “The Under-16 team is ranked eighth and plays British Columbia in its first game while the Under-14 team is ranked tenth and meets Ontario in its first game. That’s a very tough opening for both Newfoundland and Labrador entries.”

The Rogers NLSA Under 12 teams gained great experience from their trip to Quebec to play in in the Laval International Soccer Cup July 3rd and 4th. The Boys Under 12 team competed in the Boys U12 AA category while the Girls Under 12 team competed in the Girls Under 14 AA category. Results and reports follow.

Girls’ teams from Newfoundland and Labrador won bronze medals Sunday as the Atlantic youth soccer championships concluded. The medals came in Under-14 and Under-15 age groups. The Canadian Soccer Association has posted the times and fields for the 2010 BMO National Championships Nutrilite All Stars U-16/U-14 Girls competitions. This year’s tournament, hosted in partnership with the Newfoundland Labrador Soccer Association, runs 20-25 July in St. John’s, NL. The matches will be played at King George V Park, Mount Pearl and Bowring Park.
