Under 12 mega tournaments

Mount Pearl, Paradise, Bay Bulls and Happy Valley-Goose Bay won their gold medal games to earn championships in the 2010 provincial Under-12 girls mega soccer tournament in Conception Bay South. Mount Pearl edged Conception Bay South 1-0 to claim the “A’ title. Anna Barry scored the winners’ goal.
Conception Bay South, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips, Paradise, Conception Bay North, Stephenville, Bay Bull, and Clarenville were the category provincial champions at the Under-12 boys soccer mega tournament in Gander. Jeffrey Greenslade had the goal as Conception Bay South took the “A” title 1-0 over St. John’s Red.

U14 Girls Provincials

St. John’s shut out Mount Pearl 2-0 Sunday at the CBS pitch to take the gold medal in the Pepsi Cola provincial Under-14 girls “A” soccer championships. St. John’s will represent the province in the Canadian championships in Moncton, New Brunswick October 6 to 11.
Melissa Reid and Morgan Fitzgerald had the St. John’s goals and keeper Sara Wicks came up with the shutout.
Members of the champion St. John’s team include Maria Mackey, Melissa Reid, Victoria Fitzgerald, Morgan Fitzgerald, Spencer Wilkins, Geanna George, Nicole Torraville, Emily Finch, Ashley Sullivan, Leanne Raske, Nichole Mahon, Sara Wicks, Alanna Careen, Stacey Hanlon, Ashley Fowler, Jessie Bowering, Kiera Walsh, coach Laura Breen, assistant coach Leslie Pope and manager Valerie Lilly.

Boys U14 Mega

ASIA from St. Pierre, St. John’s, Conception Bay North Lightning and Corner Brook earned titles as the 2010 Pepsi Cola provincial Under-14 boys mega soccer championships concluded Sunday in Mount Pearl. There were 13 entries in the three-day, four-category championships.

Guillaume Revert scored two goals for ASIA in a 6-1 decision over Portugal Cove-St. Phillips for the “B” crown. Arthur Lapape, Mael Kello, Nicholas Lemaine and Yorick Lucas had one goal each. Pearce Burton scored for the losers.

Under-14 girls mega soccer championships

Paradise, St. John’s, Conception Bay South and Labrador West earned titles Sunday as the 2010 Pepsi Cola provincial Under-14 girls mega soccer championships concluded in Corner Brook. Ten teams participated in the three-day competition that was divided into four categories.
Paradise blanked Mount Pearl B 3-0 for the “B” championship. Alyssa Power, Lauren Humby and Kayla Dupont scored once each for the winners while Shania Clancey posted the shutout.

U16 Boys Mega Tournament

Paradise, St. John’s, Mount Pearl and Conception Bay South won titles as the 2010 Pepsi Cola provincial Under-16 boys soccer mega tournament concluded Sunday in Harbour Grace and Carbonear
Twelve teams entered the three-day competition that decided champions in four categories.
Paradise edged ASIA of St. Pierre 3-2 for the “B” honours. Kris Hodge paced the victory with two goals while John Morris added one. The ASIA scorers were Blanchet Olivier and Guillaume Claireaux.

18B Boys tournament

ASIA of St. Pierre emerged as winners as the 2010 Pepsi Cola provincial Under-18 B boys soccer championships concluded Sunday in Springdale.
Livai Pike scored two goals to pace the French Island club to a 4-1 decision over Exploits in the title contest. David Artano and Karin Halili added one goal each for the winners while Justin Bartlett had the Exploits marker. Five teams entered the three-day competition.

BMO/Nutrilite AllStar Nationals

The Under 14 and 16 BMO/Nutrilite Allstar nationals are being held in Sherbrooke, QC (Boys) and St. John’s/Mt Pearl, NL (Girls) July 20th to 25th. The U14 boys lost 6-0 to Quebec in their opening match and will play in the placing group (6-10th placement). the 16 Boys lost 1-0 to Alberta and also move to the placings division.

2010 Atlantic Under-13 championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador under 13 girls claimed bronze at the 2010 Atlantic Under-13 soccer championships in Corner Brook. The boys squad finished 4th. Nova Scotia claimed gold medals in both boys and girls.

Rogers provincial teams for Nutrilite Championships named

The four Rogers provincial all-star teams that will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Nutrilite Canadian girls and boys youth soccer championships have been named.

The girls youth soccer championships is being held in St. John’s and Mount Pearl July 20 to July 25.

Provincials schedule

Dates and locations for 2010 provincial soccer championships have been finalized. The schedule includes 17 youth events with six A championships that will advance winners into national competition. Six youth mega tournaments will decide champions in various categories and four jamborees for very young players are really “fun’ tournaments.
